A little background

About

I'm Rangers Yan. Engineer by trade, builder by instinct.

I started my career in finance, worked as a trader, later became a software engineer, and eventually moved into AI.

Today I work on computer vision, speech recognition, and AI systems. I'm interested in the space between a model that works and a product that people actually use.

Learning by building

Outside my day job, I build independent software products. Currently, I'm building LAVU — a local-first way to search your photo library using images, faces, and AI.

I believe the best way to understand technology is to build real products with it. Ship something useful, pay attention, and keep improving.

A place for the work

This site is a home for the products I build and the things I learn along the way. I write about AI, engineering, products, and the occasional detour.

I'm based in Shenzhen, China, building for the world.
